UCSB: Engineering II Life Safety Improvements and Addition

LEED Certified Gold Building

The project consists of a 15,182 ASF addition to Engineering II, which includes 6,566 ASF of research offices and laboratory space, 5,697 ASF of academic arid administrative space, 1,259 ASF of classroom space, and 1660 ASF of existing building renovation.

The addition fills in the southwest corner of the existing Engineering II building, and will establish internal connections to the existing building.

The first floor consists of classroom and office space. The second and third floors contain the Solid State Lighting and Display Program research laboratories, academic and administrative office and support space.

 

The foundation system is comprised of drilled piles with grade beams under a reinforced concrete slab on grade structure. The vertical structure is steel columns with steel braced frames. Exterior finish materials include, cementitious plaster, translucent glass and windows with low-e glass.
